What Is Wraparound Care?

 
Wraparound care refers to childcare provided before and after the school day to support families who may have work or other commitments.
 
It is different from after‑school clubs. After‑school clubs focus on enrichment activities, such as sports or creative learning.
 
Wraparound care focuses on ensuring children are safe, happy, and well looked after in a supportive environment outside normal school hours.
 

Our Approach

 
At St Charles Catholic Primary School, we aim to offer high‑quality, accessible, and affordable wraparound childcare.
 
Provision may be delivered by the school or by trusted external providers.
 
Please note: sharing external provider details does not constitute an endorsement, and the school does not receive financial benefit from any bookings.
 

Wraparound Care at St Charles Catholic Primary School

 

Before School Care

 

We offer a safe, welcoming breakfast club each morning, providing children with a positive start to the school day. Places for all breakfast club sessions must be booked in advance through ParentPay.

Paid Breakfast Club

Time: 7:45am – 8:20am
Cost: £2.00 per child, per session

Children attending this session will remain in school and can continue into the free breakfast club session.

Free Breakfast Club

Our free breakfast club is funded through the Department for Education’s Best Start in Life programme.

Time: 8:20am – 8:50am
Cost: Free
Places available: 25 per day (allocated on a first-come, first-served basis).

 

What We Provide

 

  • A safe, calm and supervised environment
  • A healthy breakfast
  • A positive start to the school day with opportunities to socialise and settle before lessons begin.

 

After School Childcare

 
On‑Site After‑School Clubs
 
We offer a variety of after‑school clubs based on enrichment and activities.
These usually finish around 4:20 p.m.
 
 
Extended Childcare Until 5:30 p.m.
 
Extended care is available until 5:30 p.m., provided by an external provider:
 
Aktiva Camps (based at Ark Brunel Primary Academy)
 
Key Information:
  • Children are escorted to Aktiva via a walking bus at the end of the school day
  • Various session lengths are available
  • Pricing is set by Aktiva Camps and varies depending on the session
