Our School Student Council meets each week to look for ways to improve our school by discussing ideas and views raised by children across the school.

The Student Council is made up of representatives from Year 1 to Year 6. These children are elected by their classmates by sharing why they would like to represent their year group, followed by a democratic vote. This helps pupils understand fairness, responsibility and the importance of listening to different viewpoints.

Student councillors attend weekly meetings where they listen carefully to others, share ideas from their classes and discuss matters linked to school organisation and development. They work together to make positive decisions that benefit the whole school community.

Any child in the school may put forward a suggestion to the Student Council by writing in their class suggestion book or by speaking directly to their year group councillors.

Responses from the Student Council are shared either by speaking directly to classes or during school assemblies, helping pupils see how their ideas can lead to real change.

The aim of the Student Council is to help pupils develop confidence, leadership and a sense of responsibility, while ensuring all children feel listened to, valued and involved in the life of the school.
